OKANAGAN AIKIKAI
The group photo was taken in November 2010, just 7 months before Kawahara Sensei passed away.
The founder of Okanagan Aikikai was Kawahara Yukio “Miyama” Shihan,
河原幸男“見山”師傅。That was in February 1986, when he dispatched Jobe Groot Sensei to Kelowna to establish this dojo.
Since then, Kawahara Sensei continued to support and teach us after Groot Sensei left in 1987. We honour Kawahara Sensei’s legacy by practicing Kawahara ryu aikido and also incorporating the aikido teaching of his successor, Osawa Sensei.
